Jasper Clinic Rocks!

I had the pleasure of spending Friday January 17th at Dr. Janet Jones Jasper Veterinary Clinic last week. My Blue Heeler Isabelle started to birth her puppies at 1 am that morning, she jumped up on the bed and graciously deposited #1 on my head to wake me up! Smart Girl. I became concerned when #2 was not birthed until 3am. I had found out the day before that the local vet was away so this could potentially become a serious problem. By 5am #3 had not appeared so I waited for 15 minutes and called Dr Janet on her cell. I knew I woke her up but she was totally cool and told me that it was the right thing to do as I live 125 kms from Jasper, an hour and a half away and the temp had dropped to -34.....She told me to wait a little longer but to head over if no results and be there at 9am. It is a long way to travel through the mountains when it is that cold but I headed out. When I got there Dr Janet immediately recognized that Bella was likely Calcium deficient. She gave her Calcium injection and a shot of Oxytocin to boost her ability to push. The staff were all there and everyone pitched in to prepare a birthing room for Bella. I was tired with no sleep and stayed in there with her and caught a few winks. I want to say how grateful I am not only to Dr Janet but to her EXCELLENT STAFF! They were all so helpful, friendly, informative and professional. After the shots it took about 6 hours to finish up the process and when we were all done there were 9 stubby tailed heelers in the box! As it took most of the day I was in an out to get lunch, gas, supplies and so forth and I had to go back and forth through the work spaces. I was made to feel completely welcome, reminded me of visiting my parents home, it was an amazing experience. And last but not least.......When I got the invoice I was shocked!.....and not for the usual reason. The total bill was a lot less than I had expected, MORE THAN REASONABLE after being there all day and being taken care in such a warm and personal way....especially nice as I have had no income for 3 months. My dogs are home and thriving and Bella has gained a lot of energy and life due to the lactating diet Dr. Janet recommended......All in all.....it was a very unusual and wonderful day for me and my dogs and I owe a great debt of thanks to Dr Janet Jones, Andrea, Nicole, Olivia, Dr Sarah and Kevin, please forgive me if I forgot anyone......My final remark.....If I had to rate the Jaspar Vet Clinic on a scale of 1 to 10.... I would emphatically choose 11
